What we offer

Benemetry sells one subscription. It covers one organization for a year, for the people it names. They sign in to the dashboard. Every part of the service is described on this page. Each figure comes with a note on what to keep in mind about it.

Climate Efficiency

Climate Efficiency is a company's market value in euros for each tonne of greenhouse gas its products avoid over their whole life. Lower is better: less market value for each tonne avoided. Each company sits in one of five tiers. Each tier is a tenfold step from the next, so the five tiers span a very wide range. The tiers are the same in every sector.

Rankings are shown within each sector; the tier is comparable across sectors.

The companies are grouped by sector and, within a sector, by the climate solution they work on. A company page shows the figure, its tier and the caveat beside it. The sectors today:

  • Electricity
  • Transportation
  • Industry, Materials & Waste
  • Buildings & Electricity
  • Food, Agriculture, Land & Ocean (FALO)
  • Buildings & Industry
  • Electricity & Industry
  • Cooking & Hot Water
  • FALO & Nature-Based Carbon Removal
  • Industrial Carbon Removal
  • Nature-Based Carbon Removal
  • Other Energy

In development: companies we have identified under a climate solution but not yet measured. They are listed with no figure.

Impact Efficiency

Impact Efficiency is a company's market value in euros for each unit of good its strategy delivers over ten years. Each theme is broken into strategies. A strategy is one distinct way to pursue the theme's goal. Each strategy counts its good in its own unit: healthy years of life saved, megawatt-hours of clean power, worker-years paid a living wage, and more. Which direction is better depends on the strategy. Where the measure counts a benefit, lower is better. Where it counts a harm, higher is better.

Compare a company's figure only with others in the same strategy: each strategy counts its good in its own way. Within a strategy, compare only companies whose activity figures (how much of the counted thing each company does) come from the same kind of source: the company's own reports, an outside authority's counts (such as a government agency's), or an outside industry tracker's counts.

There is no cross-strategy leaderboard anywhere in this product.

A caveat pill marks a strategy published from lighter data. An estimate pill says how firm the figure is. A note on what to keep in mind sits on every company page. Read it before using the number. The themes today:

  • Decent Work
  • Affordable & Clean Energy
  • Access to Healthcare
  • Food Security
  • Air Quality
  • Quality Education
  • Affordable Housing
  • Financial Inclusion
  • Occupational Safety & Health
  • Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH)

In development: strategies we have identified but not yet measured, and the companies that carry them out. They are listed with no figure.

Benemetry 100 Index

The Benemetry 100 Index is a list of one hundred measured companies. Forty come from the Climate library and sixty from the Themes library. A company is chosen by its measured impact for every unit of its market value. It is compared only with companies measured the same way. First it must pass checks on where it is listed, its size and how much its shares trade. It must also stay off an exclusion register, the companies the rules keep out. Each company in the list counts equally. The list is reset every quarter under published rules.

This list is not a ranking. Benemetry publishes only the list and the rules. It publishes no number about the list as a whole.

Benemetry Horizon 100 Index

The Benemetry Horizon 100 Index is a list of one hundred companies in two parts. Forty are the Climate companies of the Benemetry 100 Index. Sixty come from strategies we have identified but not yet measured. Some of these strategies will be measured later. Some never can be. The Themes part is filled by size. No company in the Themes part has an impact measure, and none is ranked by impact. The list is reset every quarter under published rules.

Weekly Review

The Weekly Review is one issue a week. It reports the public events at the companies we measure, and the part of our measure each one touches. Each issue has an essay. We make no forecast and no recommendation.

Who it is for

Professional investors who want to know what a company delivers for what it costs. Teams that must defend a sustainability claim and want the evidence behind it.
